I am running Windows 7 dual boot with Windows XP. I have installed IE, Firefox and Jave on both. Java plugins are recognized on the plugin check page and up to date. When I go to the Java.com website to test the Java version installed from Firefox, Firefox will crash every time. When I test it in IE, the test works. This happens on both the XP and Windows 7. I have uninstalled all, rebooted, loaded IE 8, Firefox, and Java in that order.

You try to select a direct connection.

Control Panel > Java > General tab > "Network Settings...": "Direct Connection" (enable)

Still crashed. I tried it on my Vista Home laptop and works fine. Test works in Firefox with AVG and all other programs the same.
