I responded to needing a security update. I updated. Now in About Firefox it says: You are currently on the release update channel. What does that mean, it doesn't sound like a security update to me!

Channels, in order of most to least secure and stable:

  • Release = released final versions available for everyone to download
  • Beta = versions in final testing stage to clean up a few remaining items; for experienced testers
  • Aurora = early release of versions still under testing and updating; for experienced testers
  • Nightly = very early development versions, may be unstable and contain security issues; for very experienced testers
