When will Firefox work with the Scrolling Screen Capture feature in Snagit? (IE works and Firefox USED TO)

When using Snagit, there is an option to capture the entire page, not just what shows on the current screen. When using Firefox, the page does not scroll any more (it used to, about 3 versions ago). Now when I want to capture a longer-than-screen-length-page, I have to switch over to IE before I can do it! PLEASE fix this!!! MANY people are aware of this issue.

The latest and as it seems somewhat unofficial update of Snagit to build 68 fixed this problem for me. Please see user comments on this post for more info: Snagit scrolling problem

I hope that helps.

Hi,

we need to clarify. As far as I know, Snagit extension 1.2.3 for Snagit 9 did work fine with Firefox 3.6.

Starting with Firefox 4, TechSmith struggled through different patches to try making its extension for Snagit 10 working with Firefox.

Snagit 10.0.1 build 68 has been working fine with Firefox 5 but does not work with Firefox 6 anymore. I did not try to force it using Add-on Compatibility Reporter.

TechSmith agrees that were still three issues with Firefox 5:
- no Website URL registered for captured Web pages
- auto-scrolling feature may function only with tabs that are opened at Firefox launch, not with the one newly opened later in session
- you may need to uncheck option “use fastest scrolling method” in capture settings to have auto-scrolling capture working

TechSmith seems to not be interested in updating Snagit as fast as Firefox does. As TechSmith does prefer Internet Explorer, I will keep using Snagit 9 and refuse to upgrade to Snagit 10 without any chance to have it working fine with Firefox 6. That's it!

Cheers from France

I am using version 8.2.3 (build 14) - I dont like that they make you pay the full price when you upgrade so I stuck with this one. I paid for it once... didnt really want to pay again. I'll look tho, to see if I can find a copy of version 9 - thanks for the further info!

I believe I found an answer to this problem. Go to http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/523#Firefox_Scroll ... there are links to fix the scrolling function of Snagit for Firefox versions 6 and 7. Following is the info under the SNAGIT FOR MAC USERS subheading. I reinstalled Firefox 7 and then installed the applicable fix below, and life is good again.

'Snagit for Mac users

Please update to Snagit for Mac 1.0.3 which installs a new Firefox extension that works in FF 4 and 5. The update is available through the built-in Check for Updates feature or from Download Center - Snagit 1.0.3

For Firefox 6, we have a patch available. Please download and install the macautoscrollhelper6.xpi file attached at the bottom of this article.

For Firefox 7, we have a patch available. Please download and install the macautoscrollhelper7.xpi file attached at the bottom of this article.

NOTE:

The macautoscrollhelper6.xpi file will not function with Firefox 5 (it is functional with 3, 4 and 6).

The macautoscrollhelper7.xpi file is designed for Firefox 7 only.

Instructions for installing an addon via a XPI file can be found here.'''
