Firefox for 8" tablet based on ARM Cortex A8 is not available from Google Play Store
Installation issue - not able to install FFox - any version.
I have a new 8" tablet based on the "Allwinner A10 - Arm Cortex A8" http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10.
This device states that it is not compatible when I go to the Google Play Store. I am running Android v4.0.3 ICS and I get most Android applications working. I like SongBird, but that depends on the Firefox engine, so it won't install either.
a. I have installed Chrome and Opera but not Firefox. b. I have seen in another page in this site that Tablets under 10" should use the mobile version of Firefox and not the tablet version of the software - with reference to 7" devices.
I am not too fussed with the mode, but I would like to know where I stand with this device. Is this an ARM v6 device ?

This is the referenced page in post above:-
Any advice prior to installing the APK version of the application ?
I have done some further checking and the Cortex A8 is based on the ARM v7 Architecture, so that box can be checked.

Its me again. I have now installed FFox via the apk file and it works. Which is an even better reason to get the Google Play Store configuration fixed.
The Firefox 14.0 did not have the tablet ui finished and rather than delaying again for a couple months they blocked the tablets but not the phones. The ui should hopefully be ready for 15.0.
You can try Aurora channel builds (for 15.0a2) to get an idea http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/aurora/ though it gets updates pretty much everyday and the updates are manually installed.
Hi James, Thanks for the reply.
Can you confirm the following please
1. To confirm, the Android, Google Play, Store currently does not support Firefox for Android Tablets. Firefox is available for phone devices - which I have downloaded. 2. There are plans to fix this in due course 3. The proposed solution to the problem is: "known issue to be resolved shortly"
