Renaming, Viewing and Managing Bookmarks does not work in Firefox
I believe this problem is caused by my Windows keyboard settings, however, to me, this appears to be a bug. The problem started right after I set this computer up with the new keyboard settings, however, when I revert back to the plain English US keyboard, it does not solve the problem.
I see bookmarks, and can add bookmarks to the bookmarks toolbar by dragging and dropping. However, if I right click and select "properties" a blank window pops up with no fields and no ability to change anything. If I open up the Bookmarks manager, nothing is shown at all and all functionality is disabled. For example if I click on "Organize" and then "New Bookmark" nothing happens. It also does not show any of the bookmarks that are visible in the bookmarks toolbar.
I run Windows 7, I have the English US (International) keyboard enabled. Running Firefox 15.0.1.

Did you try to delete the places.sqlite file(s)?
The above mentioned places-maintenance extensions may not have worked in your case, so you need to remove the files yourself to make Firefox create a new places.sqlite database file.
You can also check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.
If you can't fix your current Firefox Profile Folder the you can reset Firefox and create a new profile.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

You can try to check and repair the places database with this extension:
This did not work. I have attached a screenshot of what a bookmark looks like when I click properties
You can also see in that picture how although there are bookmarks present in the bookmarks toolbar, they are not showing up on the left when I bring up the bookmarks tab.

Thanks! That worked. I went in to Firefox --> Help --> Troubleshooting information and under the section called "Application Basics" I clicked on "Show folder." I then closed firefox, waited until the process had completely shut down and deleted all of the places.sqlite files (there were three in my instance).
This solved the problem as I am now able to modify and move all of my bookmarks. Thanks so much for the help!!
You're welcome
