how do i get a search box in start menu?
I saved bookmarks in a file ; Firefox says go to start menu and type in link shown in Firefox 's how to recover your bookmarks but my start menu does not have a search box or place where I could do that. Please tell me how to get the search box I need. My Start button only has the programs I use use above the Start button.
I cannot use email -- too old to learn

'Yes, I did remove my personal data if that included my Bookmarks from Firefox 16.0.2 program. After I may have used an import or export method I was able to save the Bookmarks in my personal My Documents Folder . i do not know if I removed any thing else from Firefox 16.0.2 before I deleted the program into the recycle bin. I tried to include everything that was in the Bookmarks folder, like the various choices included under Bookmarks.
Another thing I did was scanned for malicious " adware", scanned for viruses, and removed them best I could before deleting the Firefox 16.0.2.

Hello, i'm sorry i can not clearly understand, you try to find the file(with saved bookmarks) in your computer ?
see how to search input field in win 7 : http://superuser.com/questions/262297/windows-7-start-menu-restore-the-search-input-field
thank you
My Start button above the Task Bar does not have a search box where I can type " 96APPDATA96\Mozilla\Firefox\Profile " which would take me to the top of the list of my programs in the start list ; then from that area I should be able to use Windows Explorer to (import? or export? ) my Bookmarks into Firefox 17.0. I some how do not have Internet Explorer, so I cannot use it in the solution from Firefox's "How to recover your bookmarks" page from Firefox to get my Firefox Profile information. I may have had a search box before, but not now. Firefox uses the word to mean that space where one types a file name to find it. That is what I mean by " search box"
Another solution might help me: I had to delete my Firefox 16.0.2 from my computer because of a malicious program that crashed my computer. How can I get Internet Explorer. which Firefox tells one to use to get back my Bookmarks. This might help because I am not proficient in technology.

Did you uninstall Firefox and removed personal data when you "had to delete my Firefox 16.0.2" ?
(I will remove the solved status of this thread for now as you do not seem to have solved it)

I thought my reply could help you determine how I could get back all my bookmarks into Firefox version.17.0.

If you remove your personal data when uninstalling Firefox then all Firefox profile folders are removed and you've lost your bookmarks and other data that was stored there.
To which location and with what name did you export your Firefox bookmarks?
The default name is bookmarks.html.
You should also be able to search for files via Windows Explorer program.
- Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
