Firefox slows down and hangs the computer. It appears to tie up the computer with excessive use of a program called mngr.exe.

I use Windows XP, Firefox works well for a short time, a message pops up saying High Memory Usage for mngr.exe. If I open the task box and cancel the mngr.exe program, it will reset from 25% CPU usage to 0 and all is fine again for a short time then it starts again. If I leave the mngr.exe alone, the computer will hang up. I've uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it but that did not help.
