ALERT---ALERT since upgrading to last version 1/2 hour ago I can NOT send mail-ALERT ---
HI,
I upgraded to the latest version half an hour ago. My TB is in French. Since then I can NOT send mail. A window appears with the mention " adjunction of // ajonction de" and the blue bar keeps going up to 10 minute. After 10 min i decided to abort, restart TB, make another testmail but same problem.
Please act quickly

You do not hurt by filing a bug, I just wanted you to know it was not the solution.
I am quite interested in this HTML signature of yours. If you attach it to an email, does it send then? If so, could you send it to me so I could have a look. My email address is on my profile, so just click on my name on one of these messages.

Could it be because my signature is in HTML?
more likely because your anti virus is blocking Thunderbird because the version number has changed.
Hi Matt,
I am using Avast , it is not my first upgrade and so far I never have had this issue. So I doubt but I will check this.
simply boot into windows safe mode with networking If it works it is avast. If it does not it is probably not.
HI again Matt
Avast is ok. As said it not my first change of upgrade or version . Where can i find the previous one?
Thank you
I have checked Avast: OK I have boot in safe mode: Not possible to send a mail via TB. In safe mode all connections to internet working normally.
Shall I uninstall lastest version and re install previous one? How to do that?
Hello,
Certain Thunderbird problems can be solved by peforming a Clean Reinstall. This means you remove Thunderbird's Program Files then reinstall Thunderbird. Please follow these steps:
- Download the latest version of Thunderbird from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download is complete, close all Thunderbird windows (Click Exit/Quit from the menu button on the right).
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\
- Mac: Delete Thunderbird from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Thunderbird with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Thunderbird on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Thunderbird Download Page, simply remove the folder thunderbird in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Thunderbird:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to open Thunderbird after clicking the Finish button.
WARNING: Do not run Thunderbird's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Thunderbird data, including but not limited to, extensions, emails, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!
Please report back to see if this helped you!
Thank you.
Hello Mathew, Thanks for your advise . I am a bit hesitating on a clean re-install of version 24.0 as: 1* the problem occurred when upgrading to this version 2* I have a few add ons e.g. dictionnaries, reminderfox, google agenda and contacts, lightning, and quicktext which I would not want to loose or to have to re-install. 3* Therefore I have placed a bugreport on bugzilla as I believe that there is a bug in this new version.
I use my accounts on line in the mean time but I miss TB a lot....and I hope the community will find soon the solution.
Kind regards, Charlotte
1. That does not preclude a reinstall fixing things. It is unlikely, but it might and if you think filing a bug isthe way to go. Someone in Bugzilla (me perhaps) will suggest exactly the same thing.
2. The text I read tells you exactly how to prevent that. But versions of your add-ons to work with the previous version will need to be manually located and installed. Then you complaint that it is all to much trouble and stop upgrading and become another typhoid Mary. Hence us ignoring requests to go backwards.
3. There might be a bug, but filing a bug report is not a personal solution. have you considered any of the following.
- Your settings are wrong. Mail providers do periodically change settings and my experience is there is a proportion of users to do not make the changes when their provider asks.
So, what mail provider and what connections setting are being used? Help menu (Alt+H) > troubleshooting information is a good way to get these things.
- Have you tried with add-ons disabled? Also on the help menu. It is not uncommon at all for add-ons to misbehave in a new version.
Dear Matt,
I did not want to hurt anyone by filing a bug, I just thought that this was the place to inform your team. This was even first time for me!
Anyway I believe to have found the issue. I have started TB in safe mode , then WITHOUT my HTML signature i could send a mail .
However with my signature file "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Signature privée.html " I could not send a mail. I got then the famous:)" adjonction of" message.
I suppose that I need to make a new signature.
I thank you very much for your help and rest assured I am not a typhoid Mary .
Kind regards ,Charlotte

This problem suddenly appeared in Thunderbird this morning. "Adjonction de" in French while trying to send a mail. What had I changed. In fact I had pasted a GIF image in the text part of the message. I deleted the image and the mail was sent correctly.
