How to open URL in new window from Desktop ICON
I know I can can create a command shortcut icon on the desktop that opens firefox in a new window.
I can also create a url shortcut (web document) on the desktop (drag url to desktop) that only opens in an opened browser (unless I uncheck the option in firefox to open urls in new TAB). I don't want all web page urls to always open in a new window, just the ones from the destop.
Note that there is a significant between a command shortcut icon and a web document shortcut icon on the desktop. They are two very different things.
Command line options are of no use because the url (web document) icon is not a command line thing.
There very well might be a windows 7 setting that controls the command line for web documents, but I have not found it.
Any suggestions?

You probably would have to modify the registry key that is involved with opening an URL type desktop shortcut that opens the default browser.
You can look in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (.htm(l)) and follow a possible link to other keys if you do not see a Firefox command.
