I have been trying to cut the running processes from the resource monitor that use big cpu usage and i think i stopped something that made firefox run because it doesn't work at all about 1 minute into opening and when it does work it's really really slow, what all processes need to run for firefox to run?

Firefox should start any required processes. Well, except for processes that are part of Windows itself...

Does this same problem occur after shutting down and restarting Windows?

Does the same problem occur if you start Firefox up to a blank tab and let it just sit there checking for updates and otherwise maintaining itself? To start Firefox up to a blank tab:

Start menu, search box, type or paste the following and press Enter:

firefox.exe "about:blank"

Also, to determine whether one of your extensions is the culprit, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

(Or if Firefox not running, hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.)

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?
