Zoom Changed Behaviour

more options

Since the upgrade to v31.0 I find that the zoom function has changed. I have a wide-screen monitor and I used zoom to fit the width of the page to the browser window.

Now when I zoom, the page width stays the same (in the middle 2/3 or so of the screen), but the font size increases and, on many pages, then overlaps its text boxes/frames.

How can I revert to the previous behaviour?

Hope somebody can advise me - thanks in advance.

Hmm.. This is an problem with Flash Player.

Hi Jjoc JJ and thanks for your interest. I do not understand how Flash can be the problem as the zoom problem happens on all pages.

eBay is a good example - see screenshots attached. The 1st screenshot is at 100%, the second at 150%. Prior to the latest Firefox version, zooming would expand the page to fit the width of the screen, now it only magnifies the text size.

Does this clarify my problem?

Hi friend, well the problem seems to be in the responiveness of the website itself. its not 100 percent compatable and makes these gliches....

Hi Kleo, you may be correct, but I find that all websites will no longer zoom to fill my screen and many exhibit the text overlap problem. The change is coincident with the Firefox upgrade, so perhaps it is a Firefox glitch rather than website glitches.

I will try a different browser (IE) and report back.

OK, I tried IE and that gives me the zoom behaviour I expected. See attached.

Any more thoughts? Is this an isolated incident or has anybody else seen the problem?

I fixed it. Installed Chrome. All is now well.

cor-el thanks!

I had the menu bar hidden, took me a while to find it. Not sure how the 'zoom text only' option came to be checked and I didn't know about it anyway. A weird glitch during the upgrade, I guess.

Problem solved, thanks again. I may stick with Chrome though...
