A few days ago, one email newsletter that I get daily went bonkers and downloaded over 20 copies in Thunderbird. Next day, same thing. I tried unsubscribing from the list, but they kept coming. I have already deleted 20 or more today. Every time I go in TB, one to a dozen more appear. This happened when I log in to Outlook direct, or on my iPad. I did contact the support at the newsletter, but since it is only in TB, it seems to be a TB problem.

How can I make this stop?

If the additional duplicate emails are actually being received on the server as newly received emails then they will get downloaded, in which case it is not a Thunderbird problem.

However, if these duplciate emails are deleted emails that are being resurrected - not downloaded, then it sounds like you have not been compacting folders to remove all marked as deleted mail.

Info on compacting:

So try this:

  • File > Compact Folders
