I have installed Thunderbird on a Windows Server 2008 VPS, and can send/receive mail fine, but can't get it recognised as Default Email by Accredo

I have gone into Control Panel and set Thunderbird as the default email. I have also set Thunderbird to check that it is the default email, and it currently thinks it is. Accredo (our accounting software) doesn't recognise that Thunderbird is there when I try and send an email. It has the options of Full MAPI, Simple MAPI and Outlook settings, and none of these work. We had an identical setup running on a Windows 7 box and it worked perfectly. I'm baffled...

If you just installed the Windows 7 there is a good chance the accredi software does not install the MAPI components and Microsoft no longer include them in Windows 7.

I think this may well fix the issue for you https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=1004 but I am no expert on MAPI. to me it is something of a dark art.

At the end of the day Thunderbird is only good for Simple MAPI, so there is no point using anything else.

We have just moved our setup off the Windows 7 box (where it worked well but the machine was tired) and put it on to Windows Server 2008, and this is where it isn't working. I tried Simple MAPI and that didn't help...
