I have a new computer running Windows 7 Professional. I installed Firefox and copied all of the files the Firefox profile on my previous system to the new profile. All of my bookmarks, extensions, etc. are on the new system, but I had passwords with a Master Password and none of this is there. I checked and the key3 and logins.json files are in the profile and have the same size as the previous ones. How do I activate the passwords on the new system? Thanks,

OK - I re-copied those two files to the new profile and it is now working.

Thanks, Randy

The size don't mean much, especially for the key3.db file. This file stores the encryption key and is always the same size.

Does Firefox ask for the master password when you click "Saved Passwords"?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords"

If not then there is a problem with the key3.db file.
