Type about:preferences#content<enter> in the address bar. Across from fonts and colors, press the Advanced button. On the bottom, turn on Allow Web Sites To Choose Their Own.

You can check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/multipleappsquit.html - Font Book 2.0 Help: Checking for damaged fonts http://www.creativetechs.com/iq/garbled_fonts_troubleshooting_guide.html

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

No luck - tried the following:

1: about:preferences#content<enter> in the address bar. Across from fonts and colors, press the Advanced button. On the bottom, turn on Allow Web Sites To Choose Their Own.

2: Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

3: Updated graphics driver.

4: Disabled all add-ons

Don't know why this is only with Firefox 43, fine with older firefox and other browsers.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

In the 30s, there were numerous changes to Firefox's graphics subsystem, which may also have affected font rendering.

If you can isolate the appearance of the problem more precisely, then it might trigger a memory of what changed, or allow further research into that, and what mitigations are available for that change. Otherwise...
