How can I reinstall thunderbird instead of installing it.

My Thunderbird program became corrupted. The individual files still show, but the menu bars at the top have disappeared. I do not know how to restore the program as it was. I'd like to not "install" the program again for fear of losing data.

Uninstall and then re-install Lightning via the add-on manager. No data will be lost.
