I haven't had any similar problems until early Tuesday evening. Then, I can log in into Yahoo Mail, but can't do anything after logging in - after a while it says "Taking too long? Load Basic Mail". I'm then able to go to Basic Mail, but Basic Mail only, not regular e-mail, so all of the formatting, etc. gets messed up on reply, etc. I tried opening Firefox in Safe Mode, but no help. I tried opening in regular mode with cache and all cookies removed, but no help. Private Browsing also does not help. However, I am able to log into regular Yahoo Mail through IE. Please help. Thank you.

Hmm, you did all the obvious things already...

One thing that bites Yahoo subscribers from time to time is changes in mail server addresses. Yahoo Mail does not always redirect you the correct new site, so your mailbox can appear broken in mysterious ways.

If you have been using a bookmark or old saved home page address to go to mail, try accessing mail through the Yahoo home page or My Yahoo:

Does that make any difference?

No, just tried it -- I was using the right one all along. I'm curious if anyone else is having a similar issue.

By the way, just had an idea to try something new, but it didn't work. I downloaded Firefox 38.4 ESR, and tried everything with that (private browsing, regular mode, and safe mode all with cache and all cookies deleted) and still same result. Perhaps the issue has something to do either with one of the plug-ins (like Flash for example) or with something Yahoo did to resolve the issue that everyone (not just me) had earlier in the week. Keep in mind, I never had this issue until Tuesday evening. Thank you

Just tried it in the latest version of Paleo Moon, and it works there. So, Yahoo Mail works in IE and PM, but not in Firefox 42 or Firefox 38.4 ESR.

I just realized that perhaps I was having the problem described here and thus tried the recommended solution , but still same issue. (I have already tried what was suggested here as well.)

So when I want to check my Yahoo Mail (the full version, not the severely limited basic mail), I have to use either IE or Paleo Moon -- still doesn't work on Firefox.

I discovered a solution - not optimal but it worked for me. I actually had several sites that were "no longer working" with the newer releases of Firefox, but did work in other browsers.

My solution was to create a new, "clean" profile and rebuild my preferences from scratch. The extension FEBE is a great help here - install it into the old profile, and create a "Selective" backup, and select all options. All your extensions and themes will be in their own xpi file that you can then reinstall into the new profile. And no, creating full backup and restoring it into a new profile doesn't work.

FEBE will also export a json file with all your extension settings and preferences. If you have a file diff viewer, this will help in copying over your preferences. But be judicious in which preferences you copy - my best guess as to why there was a problem in the first place is that there are one or more settings for older extensions that are no longer valid, but nonetheless affect some websites.

I also recommend the extension Password Exporter if you store a lot of passwords in your browser. Other files, like bookmarks.html and cookies.sqlite can be copied directly into the new profile folder. Of course, you'll want to copy them while Firefox is closed so as not to confuse its little brain.

As I said, not optimal, but hey, it's an opportunity to clean out your profile and remove the stuff you don't really use.

Good luck!
