I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 44.02 twice and the search engine box is missing that uses whatever search engine you choose. I have tried going to add-ons and it shows the search engines available but won't allow me to add any and there is no ok or submit for it.

Normally, Firefox's "Search bar" is on the right end of the main toolbar. Two thoughts:

(1) It might be overflowing off the bar due to lots of other icons filling it up. If there is a button with an icon similar to >> click that to see whether it is there. You can use the Customize feature to move it to a more visible location. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

(2) It might have moved to an odd location or fallen completely off the toolbar. You can use the Customize feature to see where it might be on other bars, or among the unused controls, and move it back to its usual place. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

If it's nowhere to be found, try using the "Restore defaults" button at the bottom of the Customize tab. Then you can rearrange the buttons to your liking.

Any luck?
