Firefox not saving popup preferences - resets after restart
as above, since the latest 45.0.1 update my popup preferences constantly reset themselves whenever i restart Firefox
Ive tried updating all the plugins but this hasn't made a difference, restarted the PC etc
Ive tried changing the settings from 'remember history' to 'use custom setting' etc but still that gets reset every time i restart Firefox
Ive tried adding the web addresses manually and they all work but again....they get deleted when Firefox restarts
Looked at trying to downgrade to a previous version as this is very annoying!

What popups are you getting?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

i always ad things like yahoo mail ad banner block, adblock plus etc that's all though
as stated this has only been an issue since the latest 45.0.1 update!

also, I'm not getting popups that i don't want.....
i want to save the preferences for the popups that i DO WANT TO ALLOW
Like 'login popup windows' so i click on 'allow popups for X webpage' which add an exception into the list but then if i restart firefox these added exceptions get deleted!!
does my head in
Did you check the link I posted?
yes there was nothing specific to my issue
but there is answers for popups NOT being blocked
In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.
- do not clear the Site Preferences
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-recent-browsing-search-and-download-history
- clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
This has never EVER been an issue until the most recent update, all other previous updates performed fine and now all of a sudden this
That setting you have just mentioned is not on, as stated my setting is currently:
Firefox will: Remember History
I did change the settings to:
Firefox will: use custom setting for history
and i only had the following 3 boxes ticked:
Remember my browsing and download history Remember search and form history Accept cookies from sites
But as stated even if i change this setting mentioned above, EVERYTIME i then restart firefox these settings are RESET back again
I cant see why firefox doesn't admit its something to do with their update
here you go, i just added 3 exceptions to allow pop up windows, i then restarted firefox to show that everytime these get wiped
Try to rename/remove the permissions.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Ive just done that, i renamed the file including the letters 'OLD' in the name
restarted firefox, added some popup exceptions, which work fine when im using firefox
restarted firefox and its deleted them just as it did before, so unfortunately this did not work :(
I've just tried it all again but deleting the file instead
that also doesn't work either
still doing this after latest small update, nice to see mozilla being really supportive here........

If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then check the settings for the Firefox application.
i don't use any cleaner like that and i don't have the "Clear history when Firefox closes"
any other suggestions
