Just got a new computer with Windows 10, downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird and am able to open attachments, just not pps files. Do not have powerpoint installed, not sure if this is the reason that I cannot open pps files.

Thunderbird is an email client. It does not open Microsoft PowerPoint files. You have to have the program or a PowerPoint viewer.
