I have one folder where the filters were working just fine for a couple years. After adding a couple more filters and running a recent update, those filters stopped working properly. Sometimes messages will filter into the correct folder, sometimes they don't get filtered at all.

If the filters encounter an error of any kind, does the processing just stop there?

Could the filter data be corrupted?

Has anyone reported problems with folder filters since the most recent update?

Thanks,

Pete

could you explain a bit more what your not functional filters look like? There is a file under each account, MsgFilterRules.dat, that contain the filter. It looks like:

version="9" logging="no" name="Age In Days is greater than 6" enabled="yes" type="48" action="Move to folder" actionValue="mailbox://nobody@Local%20Folders/0-inbox" condition="AND (age in days,is greater than,6)"

That's how simple it can be.

I have this problem also, since the last Tbird update. It occurs only on one filter and it occurs only for automatic filtering (which is set). When I run the filter manually, the msg is moved as desired. This is the last filter I've entered, and I wonder if there is a limit on the number of filters allowed. Also, this filter moves the msg from one mail account to an "alias" or sub-account hosted by the same ISP. Each account has its own Inbox. Any of this relevant?

Sorry for the delayed answer.

I made a filter in account a that moved messages to account b when "greatings" were in subject. It was to run whenever getting new mail. Automatic and manually. Both accounts IMAP on the same ISP and each with its own Inbox

Worked every time.

To my knowledge there are no actual limit other than it takes time to process which might trigger a timeout (?)

The order of filters is important thou. (Win 7, TB 45.1.1)

Concur with the problem diagnosis. In my case the filters have stopped working when Thunderbird upgraded to version 45.2.0. Previously I had this problem with 38.5.1 and it disappeared with 38.6. Thus i

Specifically, some (not all) filters on the incoming mail fail claiming that an operation is pending.

Also the creation of a search folder is impaired. Once I give a search criteria on a target folder, TB hangs indefinitely.

Mine works in 45.2 Are you using Win7 like me or Linux.

If its not to personal can you send me your msgFilterRules.dat from the troublesome account-directory. %appdata%\thunderbird\profiles\"your profile" \mail (or IMAP-mail)\ "account"

You find my address under my name, left (its a link)

I think you need to open a new question about this.
