How can I overwrite my bookmarks?

I have my browser set up the way I want it on my desktop computer. I add/update/delete bookmarks there on a regular basis. From time to time, I have to work on my laptop. I'd like the bookmarks to be the same on both. On my desktop, I export my bookmarks to an html file. On the laptop, I import bookmarks from that file. What I wind up with is a conglomeration of both sets of bookmarks.

What I'd LIKE to do is to import/restore/whatever bookmarks and have them totally overwrite the old bookmarks in exactly the same place they are on my desktop. Is this possible?

Hi, instead of exporting to HTML, select Backup instead. Then instead of importing from HTML, select Restore.

Note, this will overwrite any existing bookmarks.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

HTML bookmarks files are to be imported and will append existing bookmarks that are already in Firefox.

JSON bookmarkbackups files are to be restored and will overwrite any existing bookmarks that are already in Firefox.

Thank you! Somehow I assumed that backup and export to html would do the same thing. Wrong.
