I just wanted to let you know, I finally quit using Firefox. Changing the backspace key to page back was the straw that broke the camel's back!

I use the backspace key all the time and it works just fine.
Why do you blame   Firefox   ?

Hi RivendellH, did your Firefox Refresh and lose your settings? There has always been a quick way to disable that feature using about:config, but if you used Refresh, you might have forgotten or lost track of this trick:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste back and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.backspace_action preference and change the value from 0 to 2 (or anything other than 0 or 1) and then click OK.

(FYI - setting it to 1 causes the Backspace key to behave like Page Up)

Hi Happy112, this is the behavior of the Backspace key when your cursor is outside of an editable control -- it is handled differently in that case, according to the above setting.

Unfortunately, I quit using FF for lots of buggy reasons... this was just the one that pushed me into the land of Chrome.  : ( Thanks anyway but if you think that is a quick and easy fix then you are not a user in their 60's! LOL Steve

Yes, I have a decade to go. I did try to make the steps easy to follow if you still happened to be using Firefox.

If you decide to return to Firefox, please post a new question about the other buggy reasons. We can't help you with problems we don't know about.
