Lorex DVR remote access/manage/view add-on keeps prompting for install, after install and restart firefox does not recognize installed add-on/plugin. I need this plugin/add-on to work in order for me to monitor remotely DVR cameras at business, manage the system and view recordings of incidents if any. Logon either ddns or via locap ip address, same results. Going to try older version of Firefox shortly to see if problem goes away, so far it is on 52.02 & 53

How to fix it?

Firefox 51.0.1 works perfectly with the task at hand for remotely managing DVR. What's changed going forward with the newer versions of the browser?

Hi   !
The regular release of Firefox 52 only allows one plugin, which is Flash. The Extended Support Release (ESR) of Firefox 52 will still run Java and other old plugins. ESR was first developed to meet the needs of large organizations that wanted Firefox to change much more slowly. It gets security updates but no feature changes for about a year at a time. You can download the ESR version of Firefox 52 from here : https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/ As a footnote to the above: When you get to the ESR installer list, you'll notice two or three different downloads for Windows: • Windows installer is the standard version for Windows that runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7-10 • Windows 64-bit installer ONLY runs the Flash and Silverlight plugins, so that is not what you're looking for. (If someone reading this only needs Silverlight and is considering switching to 64-bit, there may be some extra file cleanup to do on your system. See: How to switch from 32-bit to 64-bit Firefox)

Well I believe that the problem also lies along the default setting in Firefox to update automatically which causes things to go haywire without users consent to it not any knowledge of it sometimes.

You can change those settings :
3=-bar menu => Options => Advanced Under the 'Update' mini tab : 'Firefox updates' : check the box of your choice.

Happy, I know where the update option are located. What I meant to say is that due to its default option being set to an auto update, the unsuspecting user (most of the users) would not realize what has happened that caused the malfunction. Can you just imagine a user flipping out screaming "it just worked last night, and now it doesn't, what happened??????????????" not realizing that an update has been pushed through. Also the typical mind set or the way the updates come up or just even their notification wording leaves the user with an impression of "I gotta update ASAP because Firefox is telling me that newer version is available and is more secure, I don't want to get caught with my pants down for entire internet to see, gotta patch that problem up that firefox found and fixed."

You can consider to use the Firefox 52.0 esr version if you need to use other plugins.
