I have disabled Lightning and Thunderbird opens almost instantly, with it enabled it take at least 10 minutes. I am using Win 10 as the OS. I have disabled all of the add ons and enabled them one at a time and it does not matter what else is off or on but the delay in opening is only when Lightning is enabled. Once it is open it operates normally and there is no delays in any actions.

Do you have a remote calendar with lots of entries?

I am not sure what you mean by remote, I did use Outlook as my email and diary system and then started to use Thunderbird and Lightning. I imported my existing emails and diary entries over to here and stopped using outlook. I synch the calender entries with my Sony phone using My Phone explorer and have had no problems until recently. I do not know how to check how many calender entries I have? though when i export the calender to make a back up the home.ics file is 4,421 KB.

it looks like I have 5500 calendar entries, is that lot for lightning to cope with?
