All roads tried lead to App Store, Firefox icon, tap to get, enter store password, install, then screen pops up requiring iOS 10.3. iPad 2 is maxed update at iOS 9.3.5. Mozilla discourages install of earlier versions. Am I out of luck? My safari goes very unstable, almost useless.

Hi Jimbird, unlike the Firefox that runs on desktop/laptop computers and Android tablets, Firefox for iOS needs a recent version of Safari to run. Apple restricts how third party web browsers can work, so they are all built on the foundation of Safari.

Thanks, Jscher 2000. Guess I'm stuck with Safari! Should have known Apple would have a hook in allowing it.

Apple Support say:

"Apple has no say on what iOS versions the App developers require to run their Apps. If Firefox requires iOS 10 then that's what they require. Apple cannot control that.

If a legacy version is available for Firefox, it should be offered when trying to install the incompatible version from the App Store."
