A couple weeks ago I updated to version 50.0 from a previous version (hadn't updated in a while... since 48 or so). Ever since my update, it always asks to update my password for work which i recently changed (sometime last week). However, the new password is never saved. Every time I log into my work site (which is several times a day) I have to retype my password. I get the same popup "Update password?" every time, I hit the update button, and it never updates.

Can you update the password in the Password Manager?

You can double-click the name field and the password field in the Password Manager to edit this item. Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security: Logins: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
