After I upgrade from 56.0.2 to 57.0.2, I found that every time I wake computer from sleep status the memory will increase a lot. For example, the usage of the whole computer was 11.6GB before sleep, but increase to 17GB after I wake it up. I have to restart the firefox to solve the problem. In addition, I also found after I delete the browsing history, both memory and CPU usage will increase rapidly and continuously. The other thing is the previous version, I suffered serious memory leak problem and get fixed in the version 57.

Well when you delete everything. You send SessionRestore into a tail spin as it wants to write data to the file and.

Please check 57.0.1 fix took : go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser. Restart Firefox

If was not ticked and fixed issue, do nothing more. If not :

You could try this please : Go the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance

If you use Adblock Plus then you can consider uBlock Origin as a replacement to see if that works better (lower memory footprint).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
