Moving bookmarks from Chrome to Firefox's bookmarks bar
I've just installed Firefox as am thinking of moving from Chrome. But to be honest I'm not impressed having come up against my first hurdle. I choose to avail of the import option upon installing Firefox and I want to mirror the bookmarks bar I had in Chrome. There does not seem to be a bookmark manager in FF (admittedly Chrome's bookmark manager is like something a 1st yr programming student would come up with but at least I can do stuff with it) instead all I seem to have gotten is a bookmark sidebar with no way of bulk moving my Chrome bookmarks bar contents directly to the FF bookmarks bar.
This is really dissapointing. How difficult would it be when importing bookmarks to offer the new user the ability to filter or select what category of bookmarks they want imported. But more importantly the ability to import directly the bookmarks bar from Chrome and place them into the FF bookmarks bar. Instead FF has lumped them altogether into a folder and stuck that folder on the bar.
If I'm wrong please let me know

The Firefox "Bookmarks Manager" is in the Library window, which can be opened via the keyboard using { Ctrl + Shft + B } and from various menus and toolbar buttons in the user interface.
The Library also has browsing history and download history; all 3 are stored in a common "Places" file in the Firefox user Profile folder.
I have never used Chrome very much so I don't know how the Chrome bookmarks bar works, but in Firefox there is a Bookmarks Toolbar folder, which appears directly under the "All Bookmarks" folder in the Library.
I have seen posted here that "Import data from Another Browser..." (say, from Chrome) lumps all Chrome bookmarks in a separate folder named (something like) from Chrome; whereas, doing an HTML format export from Chrome and then using Import Bookmarks from HTML ... will be handled differently. As I recall, the HTML import will place those bookmarks in the Firefox "All Bookmarks" folder structure - merging the loose file and folders with already present bookmarks and folders, not in their own "from Chrome" folder
With those bookmarks already in Firefox, now is the time to "sort" them to get them into the Bookmarks Toolbar folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/sort-bookmarks-quickly-find-ones-you-want
Find the Chrome "bookmarks bar" folder (if Firefox see's that as a unique folder) and move those bookmarks into the Bookmarks Toolbar folder. Bookmarks can be "moved" via cut & paste (menu items or keyboard commands) or via drag 'n' drop in the Library UI and the Bookmarks Sidebar. (highlight them all and "slide" them around). And if the Chrome "bookmarks bar" bookmarks appear in one folder in Firefox, you can "drag" or "copy / paste" them all at once into the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.
A little bit of patience while learning how Firefox does things and a little bit of experimentation helps to "climb the learning curve" when using new (to you) software.

Mass importing your Chrome bookmarks into Firefox isn't difficult, but the option isn't easy to find. Here's some illustrated instructions showing a step-by-step. You can even import your cookies and history if you want. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-google-chrome
This is just a generic answer and does not help

It should help, cause it shows you exactly how to transfer bookmarks from Chrome to Firefox.
You could do this keyboard shortcut to get to the Library :
Ctrl + Shift + B => click on Import and Backup => click on Import Data from Another Browser => choose Chrome. Done.
Just like it shows in the link that kayvon gave you ....
I will put it as simply as I can again.
My issue is I want to replicate the links i had on the Chrome bookmarks bar/toolbar. What the FF import has done is to put those bookmarks in a folder on the FF bookmarks toolbar. Not much good to me!
Ah, good to know. So the problem isn't importing the bookmarks from Chrome so much as organizing those bookmarks, right? You want the bookmarks you've imported to be up in the bookmark toolbar? No problem!
Start by hitting Ctrl+B to open the bookmark menu. From here, you can dragon and drop bookmarks into the "Bookmarks Toolbar", which will show up at the top of the browser.
If you've moved them into the "Bookmarks Toolbar" but don't see anything at the top of the browser, you need to make sure that toolbar is visible. You can enable the bookmark toolbar by pushing alt+v (opens the view menu) -> toolbars -> Bookmarks Toolbar.
Here's a page with step-by-step instructions demonstrating another way to enable the toolbar: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/bookmarks-toolbar-display-favorite-websites
I'm really trying to help you here. Before you get too upset, realize that I don't work for Mozilla. I'm just some dude at a computer who decided to take a few minutes to answer a question. And I've answered the question I heard to ask: How do I get bookmarks from Chrome to Firefox. Now that I have some better clarification on what you want, this is my best response. If it's still not what you're looking for, please patiently explain exactly what you're hoping to accomplish and I'll see if I can help.

Thank you for your help but I'm frustrated as I don't believe you've even read my question properly in the first place. Yes it could be me and how I explain things but I don't think so.

Yes once I got into the FF bookmarks manager it was easy from there and I've even got all the bookmarks in the order they were in the Chrome bookmarks bar. Doing the HTML import worked better as well as it avoided the From Chrome bookmarks folder being created although having the excellent FF bookmarks manager to hand one could easily move stuff around.
Big thank you :)
