Every time i try to log into to a specific website, a dialog box pops up confirming i am about to log into the site with the user-name "...". After i click "Ok" It brings up another dialog box saying the website requires my user-name and password. Every time i fill it out and click "Ok" it brings the same dialog box back up again a countless amount of times refusing to login. If i click cancel it brings me to a page saying " Authorization Required This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required. "

I know that the password and user-name is correct because i can log into the site just fine when using Firefox on Windows 10, but it's a bit inconvenient to switch operating systems just to log into this site.

I am currently running Firefox Quantum 58.0.1 (64-bit) on KDE Ubuntu 17.10 Help would be appreciated.

Hi Yuvon.

Please try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

i would like to mention i setup a virtual machine to boot windows 10 from linux. installed firefox. ran it and tried to log into the website and it failed. So i went into my Windows 10 Harddrive copied the Mozilla folder from /Username/AppData/Roaming/ and pasted it into my windows 10 virtual machine on linux at the same directory and restarted firefox. I was able to log into the website. Im not sure if this information is any use but it is a workaround i found.
