Why does Firefox 60 load homepage twice in same tab at startup
Using Mac OS X High Sierra with Firefox version 60.0 (64 bit). Firefox is loading homepage twice, in the same tab, at startup only. It works normally when going to homepage from another website and when opening another tab. Tried setting different homepages and they all load twice but only at startup. Also, Firefox used to close nearly instantly but now notice it closes a lot slower, usually after about 6 seconds.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the response. I discovered that the problem does not occur in Firefox Safe Mode. Further investigation traced the problem to the IBM Security Rapport add-on. Disabling it resolves the issue. Thank you for your assistance.

What do you mean with loading the home page twice?
Can you attach a screenshot?

When Firefox is opened the homepage loads. You can tell the page is loading by watching the blue dot it the tab move left and right followed by a progress bar filling the tab left to right. The homepage is loaded the first time when the progress bar has filled the tab and disappeared. Then the homepage will load one more time. The blue dot moves back and forth in the tab again followed by the progress bar. When the homepage finishes loading for a second time its favicon is displayed in the tab.
I've recreated the loading of homepage twice at Firefox startup in a QuickTime Movie. Is there a way I can submit it to you?
Hi flvillager,
Try upload it to a hosting site such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, etc., then paste a link to the video.
In the meantime, can you tell us if the problem occurs in Firefox Safe Mode? Just hold down the Option key when you launch Firefox. For more info about Safe Mode, see Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
