Cannot access my emails in Thunderbird
I changed my gmail password and then tried to use it as my password in Thunderbird. However, I cannot get Thunderbird to sychronise with gmail so am unable to use Thunderbird at present. Can you help? I did try some of the solutions offered but to no avail. On checking in Thunderbird I don't seem to have any passwords saved which is odd. One thing I tried was to change the setting "to allow less secure apps to access your account" and when I did that my emails arrived into Thunderbird without me having to enter my password. However, I wasn't too happy about this so changed the setting on gmail. Sorcha2018

If you use a POP gmail account then you must select 'Less secure apps' option in gmail webmail account.
It is not a less secure option, that is just gmail using specific wording to make you think it is less secure. They would prefer you to use gmail webmail account. Just makes ure your password is of suitable length and uses various letters, numbers, special characters and do not use that password for other logins. In other words all the standard basic stuff you should be doing anyway.
The other option would be to use imap and select the Authentication Method: 'OAuth2'. In this instance, gmail chooses the OAuth2 password and auto inserts it into Thunderbird after you have verified it is you by logging on using normal password when prompted.
