Try adding dictionaries using options instead of add-ons.

Hi Matt

Thanks for the response.

I didn't provide enough initial detail, but this was one on the methods I tried. With the "language" blank, I used "Download More Dictionaries", that took me to Add-ons.

Dictionaries are shown as installed but Spelling language is still blank. I have assumed these dictionaries are compatible with TB65b1

thanks

Mark

My guess is you are assuming to much. Lots of the lesser used dictionaries are not ever compatible with the release version.

I am using the en_au and EN-GB dictionaries in TB60 without issues. But the daily version is available in the EN_US locale only. So there is no suggestion that other dictionaries will be compatible with it.

thanks again Matt

Now back to TB64b4, with auto-update off, dictionaries/languages OK as before. I can't do without the spell check.

Will see what happens with a later TB65 version

Unless you are beta testing the software, why not just use the release version. That is 60.

According to the release notes for TB 65beta, only WebExtension dictionaries are supported.

Hi

I had provided some feedback in the past and just stayed on the beta update channel, usually no issues and find some of the new features are relevant. I realise this matter is one of the consequences.

I had also noted in the release notes for 2.68 that is was a Web Extension speller (as was 2.67.1), so, as mentioned, assumed as it works with TB64b4 that it would be OK for TB65b1.

As you mentioned Matt, I assumed too much!

thanks again

Mark

"Release notes for 2.68 - 1 175 new words.

Due to a bug in Firefox 60 ESR, this WebExtension speller only works with Firefox V62+ or Thunderbird 66+.

Mozilla will fix this around the end of January with the release of Firefox 60.5."

I am also running with TB65.0b1 - how I come to be using the Beta version I am not sure, unless this was an automatic update. I am suffering from the same problem as Nkram. It would appear from the comments that going back to an earlier version of TB would be a (temporary) fix. If this is an option, where can I find the earlier version?

The release version can be found on the downloads page.
