Thunderbird is designed to leave pasted hyperlinks as plain text in the Composer and doesn't add the anchor tag until after the message is sent. The writer can use the Insert menu to force addition of the anchor tag but it takes additional clicks most email clients don't require. With all the customization available in Thunderbird is there anyway to show pasted URLs in a different color than body text? I prefer some sort of visual confirmation there is a URL in the message before pressing the Send button.

The question isn't about forcing Thunderbird to insert the anchor tag because that is done through the Insert menu. This is a question about convenience and ease of use. Most email clients insert the anchor tag with a space or return at the end of the address. Thunderbird requires 4 extra clicks to insert the tag and give the writer visual confirmation of the link.

I had hoped someone knew a configuration change in the userContent.css file that would change how Thunderbird handles inserted hyperlinks.
