Enter about:config in the URL bar and set dom.storage.next_gen = false. Then restart the browser.

tried that. no difference. in fact, i have tried every "solution" posted -- none worked. suspect there is a bug in 70.0 (did not have this problem with earlier versions).

Try to rename or remove the storage folder in the profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
