I have several levels of bookmarks (e.g., Computer > Text Editing >Google Suite > Google Docs). I can't see the bottom level (in my example, "Google Docs") headings in the sidebar. How do I either (a) widen the sidebar, or (b) generate a "thumb" at the bottom of the sidebar?

When you hover over the right-side of the SideBar a double-headed arrow will appear. Click-hold on that right-side border and drag the SideBar wider. Typically 40% of the screen width seems to be the widest you can go now, but there is userChrome.css code which can be added to get it wider. There was a change 4 or 5 versions ago to lessen the max drag-width.

Thanks. It turned out my problem was my fumbling fingers; after several tries, I finally got the sidebar wide enough to do what I needed to do, and finished up by setting it back to the default position.

Thanks for your time and trouble
