Thunderbird no longer syncs with Gmail after the December upgrade to the latest version 78.5.1 (32-bit). The server setting look correct. The update icon just perpetually spins.

If you're using ESET, you should temporarily disable SSL filtering until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products?ref=esf

The problem is being reported by dozens of users. https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/

I do use ESET, and that did solve the problem. Thank you so much. I would have never figured that out.

Thank Goodness.... Been grappling with this problem for a few days.

Originally I removed my Gmail Account as it wouldn't work with Thunderbird 78.5.1 (32 bit version) after upgraded to this version.

I tried to add it again but it said my configuration was incorrect, but I know it wasn't.

By implementing the above ESET fix from "christ1" it installed perfectly !!!

Many thanks -:)
