i dont want to be forced to search from the address bar.. i have trieed a few suggestions such as changing the config but it doesnt work. i will no longer be giving any financial support to this browser because of this ridiculous search change.

hi rebelscreamer,

If you are not using the address bar to search, you can disable searching from the bar. The top bar of the drop-down will instead say "Visit" with whatever you type. Here's how:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(B) In the search box in the page, type or paste keyw and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Double-click the keyword. enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

You can set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
