I have Thunderbird 128.6.0esr (64-bit) under FreeBSD with 2 mail accounts - outlook.office365 SSL/TLS OAuth2 - dovecot mail server SSL/TLS password

One active Addon "Provider for Google Calendar" to access a google calendar

The outlook account has no issue, but frequently the second account can't check for new mails.

* When I press select "Get new messages for all accounts" only the outlook account is checked
* When I press the "Get message" button no reaction, no message, nothing in the Error console

The dovecot mail server works just fine with other mail readers including android gmail app or evolution.

Looking at dovecot logs when thunderbird is locked, there is no auth attempt, and using tcpdump I don't see any traffic, and the TB CPU/memory consumption looks low. To me, TB seems locked in an internal logic and I have no idea how to debug the issue.

Thanks for your help

Whilst I use Windows and do not use Dovecot, I've had a search around to try and find something which you could try and I located the following which may be worth checking out.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1764770#c49 https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/1eykk5b/cant_connect_thunderbird_to_a_local_server/ User said:

  • In config editor, add 'network.security.ports.banned.override' as a 'string' with a value of "993"
  • Then go to Manage certificates->Add exception->XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:993 - this was able to get the certificate and allowed me to add the exception.

Config Editor is here:

  • Settings > General
  • Scroll to bottom and click on 'Config Editor' button

Manage Certificates is here:

  • Settings > Privacy & Security
  • Scroll down to 'Security' section
  • Under 'Certificate' area - click on 'Manage Certificates' button
