nonresponsive script- chrome://xulcache/content/overlay.xul:48-pops up constantly. How do I fix this?

Windows xp sp3 - Just installed Firefox after getting a Trojan. Previously used IE7 and Chrome.Firefox has been very slow to respond loading pgs and switching tabs etc. The above message started popping up continually and have to press "stop script" several times to get box to close.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

Chris- Thank-you for responding with the helpful info and links. I disabled xul cache and the problem seems to have gone away. I suppose I should go ahead and uninstall it now?

cor-el- thank-you for the malware links. Disabling xul cache add-on seems to have fixed the problem. I will run the scans to make sure the malware isn't doing more dirty work!
