Windows update will not work on Firefox, you need to use Internet Explorer to access it.
Thank you for your response. I take it then that each time I want to do a windows update I should just go into the control panel each time and change my default browser to Internet Explorer?
No need to change the default browser, you can keep Firefox as the default. Whenever you want to go to Windows Update just open IE. You can have IE and Firefox running at the same time.
