Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:
- Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)
I tried that and it did not work, the add-ons are disabled. Any other suggestions or should I just use Internet Explorer browser?
You can modify the pref keyword.URL on the about:config page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".
- Google "I'm Feeling Lucky": http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=
- Google "Browse by Name": http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=
Hi All,
Have just sorted this problem. Do the following:
type into your address bar> about:config this will bring up the usual warning that it might void your warrantee. Click> I'll be careful I promise. in the filter bar at the top enter "Yahoo" without the quotes. At the bottom of the list ther'll be a string named "Keyword.url. Right click on this and select reset. While your in there if you like you can right click on any of the yahoo lines and select modify. Once once the box opens replace Yahoo by overtyping Google. Close the tab and that should cure the problem.
All the best
Mick
