How do I move the menu bar to the top centre of the screen, between the Firefox page message and the minimise button (I have W7, but the Firefox button did not appear)?

First, I have Windows 7, but I did not get the Firefox button at top left. Instead, I have a Firefox summary message about the page I am on. I cannot alter or remove this message: it is not a toolbar.

Hence, there is unfilled blue space between this page summary at top left and the page control buttons at top right. I would like to move the menu bar into this space so that I can gain space vertically, by cutting two bar lines to one. (Or, I want to incorporate the message bar into the menu bar.) But the menu bar does not seem to be movable. I want to keep the menu bar open. So approximately 4 percent of the visible page is always wasted blue space. Help please.

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden, so you need to hide the Menu bar to get the new appearance.
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.
You can place the Tab Bar on top.

  • View > Toolbars : [ ] Menu Bar
  • View > Toolbars : [X] Tabs on Top

The Tab bar only appears on the title bar if the Firefox window is maximized.
