Told me that my Java plug in was disabled because it was incompatable. I could get nothing to pull up so did a system restore which should have let Firefox 5 but it did not. I would like 5 back!

FTP dummy here :) That takes me to the parent directory but how do I download from there? When I click on the version 5.0 it takes me to more directories and I'm lost.

Firefox 5.0/5.01 is no longer supported and contains security issues that were corrected by installing Firefox 6.0. The critical security fix will not be made to any Firefox 5 versions, including those on the ftp site.

Old Java Console extensions (Add-ons > Extensions) were disabled by Firefox 6. Unless you do Java programming, you do not need them. Java will automatically install Java Console with each Java update, but sometimes the Java update does not clean up the old versions of Java Console. You can remove them manually:

If you will explain other problems that you have with Firefox 6, one of the volunteers here will try to help you find a solution.

Believe me... I will not be re-installing Firefox 6.0. My Java is working correctly except when I tried to use the 6.0 version - then once it was disabled, NONE of my other browsers would work correctly until I just deleted the whole thing. Sounds like others are having the same issues too.

Copper, Firefox has no effect whatsoever on your installation of Java, It's completely separate from Firefox. What else is bothering you?
