The X that closes tabs disappears and I cannot close tabs now because there is no buton to close any tabs. I have the colorful tabs installed am using FF 6.0.2

The tabs use to have an X to click(on either side of the tab) in order to close each tab. This X from time to time after restarting FF disappears. I have the option in preferences for closing tabs checked. I can no longer close tabs because there is no X to do this function, and I cannot see any other preference to check that would enable this function.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Here is what fixed it. I held the cursor over a tab and right clicked. A menu appears and two of the options that were checked were "protect tab and lock tab" After I unchecked both of these options, the X appeared on each tab.
