When I go to open Firefox I get a message saying it's already running and I have to close it first. However, it is not running. This happens a lot, so what can I do?

The message reads: "Firefox is running, but is not responding. To open a new window you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

I often have to restart for Firefox to work. And yes, I have downloaded and installed the latest version. I am running Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium.

May be your Firefox is running in the background. Ctrl+alt+del will bring up the task manager. See if FF is still running in applications or processes. If yes, kill it.
