I get two, simultaneous, instances of 'connecting' tabs when I start up. Used to be only one?
When first starting, the "connecting" status on the first tab is immediately beside another tab saying "starting". I then delete the second tab.

Maybe you inadvertently set two homepages?
Homepage URLs are separated with the "pipe" symbol | when you have more than one homepage set.
