When I try to start up Firefox 8.0 I get a screen for AVG Search. How do I get rid of this screen?

I installed to new programs tonight. On the latest version of Java, the other Firefox 8.0. When I click on the Firefox icon it takes me to a new screen AVG Search and I cannot access Firefox since I can't get rid of the AVG Search screen.

I deleted AVG from my browser files and rebooted, but the page is still there when I click on the icon to access Firefox.
