I have a Windows media bar that appears in the middle of my browser window that I cannot close. Anyone know how I can close it?
I have a Windows media bar in the middle of my screen that just sits there. It cannot do anything other than show me its properties. I tried rebooting Firefox, rebooting the computer, running a virus scan and running Eset's deep virus scan and it is still there. I cannot get rid of it. It will not close.

Hi,
Please check if this happens in Safe Mode
Troubleshooting Extensions and Themes
If the media bar is present in only the home page, you can try to change the home page via Tools (Alt + T) > Options > General, beside Home Page:.
Hi,
It took a minute to reappear, but it still appears even in safe mode. I'm attaching an image of it.
In Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) > Processes tab, you can try to look for the program, End Process and check if it reappears by itself. I'm sorry, but I cannot give any names to check. Searching online for an unfamiliar name may help. It could be another installed program detecting and attaching itself to Firefox.
I tried that but I don't know what program to check, and I don't know why it reopens every time I reopen Firefox.
Should I try reinstalling Firefox?
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

I think if you downloaded Firefox from Mozilla related sites, this shouldn't happen by default. So it could be that another program installed in the PC detects Firefox and attaches itself. In this case reinstalling may not help. If you downloaded a customized Firefox from another site, you may be able to turn off this feature when reinstalling. You can also try to go into the other program's settings to turn off the Firefox feature appearing in Firefox or try to right-click on this when it appears inside Firefox and change the settings. Posting in a forum like http://www.wilderssecurity.com/ may also be helpful.
