The sound on YouTube starts, then about half a second later the same sound begins again so both are playing at once. It's so garbled I cannot understand the sound for any of the videos.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
